THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a hardworking Civil, Construction, Environmental, or Structural Engineering student for employment during the summer months for the 2025 Summer Employment Program! This internship offers a chance to gain experience in designing roadways, pavements, drainage systems, and bridges, as well as in construction and materials testing. Participants will also explore traffic systems design and operations, along with methodologies for maintenance asset management. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to engage with multiple facets of the field, such as pavement design and maintenance. Become familiar with pavement design software and various PennDOT systems. Assist with pavement designs and QC/QA reviews of pavement designs. internship serves as a valuable opportunity to refine your technical skills, translate theoretical concepts into real-world applications, and work alongside committed engineering professionals who prioritize innovation and quality. Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025

• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.Some positions may require travelCompensation is credit based: Less than 90 credits - $20.76Over 90 credits - $21.64 You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
  QUALIFICATIONSStudents who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)Must be at least 18 years of ageSpecial Requirement: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  Preferred Majors:Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
