Join Whitman College and help maintain a campus where students and faculty thrive!Description: What you'll be doingAnother Source's client, Whitman College, is recruiting a Maintenance Manager to join their team on-site in Walla Walla, WA.About the role:The Facilities Services Maintenance Manager (FSMM) leads the daily operations of building maintenance for both on-campus and off-campus locations, including Borleske Stadium and the Johnston Wilderness Center. This role ensures the functionality, safety, and efficiency of college facilities while managing a dedicated team of twelve maintenance professionals.As a key leader, the FSMM develops and administers policies, procedures, and processes that support the maintenance functions of Facilities Services. The role also plays an integral part in planning, designing, and managing new construction and remodeling projects to align with institutional goals.This role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the safety, functionality, and sustainability of a dynamic college environment. Join our team to lead innovative projects, guide a skilled team, and make a meaningful impact on our campus and beyond!The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $80,000- $87,000 based on experience.What You'll Be Doing:Leadership & Team Management

  • Oversee and manage a skilled team of maintenance professionals, including hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring staff.
  • Schedule, assign, review, and ensure the successful completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Provide leadership for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.Operations & Maintenance
    • Plan, organize, and oversee the maintenance and reliability of college facilities and infrastructure systems.
    • Establish and monitor preventative maintenance programs and facility inspection processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve after-hours facility issues, such as HVAC malfunctions, electrical outages, and water leaks.
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment, including lifecycle assessments and replacement cost projections.Policy & Compliance
      • Develop, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, and operational guidelines for maintenance functions.
      • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as institutional guidelines.Budgeting & Procurement
        • Manage departmental budgets, project costs, and implement corrective spending plans as needed.
        • Oversee procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, quotes, and bids, ensuring adherence to public purchasing rules.
        • Evaluate and supervise the work of external contractors to ensure project quality and alignment with agreements.Strategic Planning & Project Management
          • Provide expertise in planning and managing construction and remodeling projects to meet institutional goals.
          • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and review project plans, ensuring efficiency and functionality.
          • Collect and analyze data, such as utility costs and usage, to drive operational efficiency and sustainability.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
            • Serve as the primary point of contact for service inquiries and requests from college departments.
            • Act as a liaison between Facilities Services and other departments, community stakeholders, and external agencies.
            • Chair and participate in various committees to advance departmental and organizational objectives.Emergency Response
              • Respond to emergency situations as part of the Facilities Services' DOC and Emergency Management team.
              • Maintain a 24/7 on-call schedule to address critical facility issues promptly.Minimum Qualifications:
                • Associate's degree with specialized training and knowledge in one maintenance field with general knowledge in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
                • 5 years' progressively responsible supervisory of professional maintenance experience.
                • Must have a valid Washington State (or be able to obtain within WA legal requirements) Driver's License.
                • Knowledge of principles and practices in the following fields: supervising, contract management, budgeting, procurement, project management, preventative maintenance, grounds, and custodial, and continuous quality improvement.
                • Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, drawings, maps, and/or other related technical documents.
                • Interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes. Ability to maintain knowledge of the Landlord-Tenant Act.
                • Actively participate in the accident prevention program, including attending safety training programs.
                • Maintain data and components for facilities, such as: 6 Years for Life Cycle, Scheduled Maintenance, Facilities Condition Assessment.
                • Analyze processes and make recommendations for improvement.
                • Prepare a variety of data-driven reports related to operational activities, including statistical analysis, planning and budgeting.
                • Knowledge of sustainability in Facilities Management and maintaining currency in sustainable practices.
                • Demonstrate a high level of intercultural competence, an understanding of the diverse identities and cultures of Whitman students, faculty and staff, and in developing and supporting inclusive communities.Preferred Qualifications:
                  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
                  • Applicable Board Certification (e.g. CEFP, CFM, LEED AP).
