Job Description
This job is responsible for overseeing the development and continuous improvement of the processes, tools, and standards at X-energy that our engineering teams need to successfully develop and deploy new technologies and nuclear products into commercial production. In this position, you will lead the development of processes throughout the Systems Engineering Lifecycle (ISO 15288), and partner with stakeholders across the business in Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Information Technology to build and optimize the organizational capabilities necessary for us to effectively deliver our nuclear products. You will lead the adoption of lean practices throughout the business, own our Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management solution, develop Model-Based Systems Engineering best practices, and facilitate training of our engineering staff.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
• Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
• Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget.
• Develop and implement comprehensive process frameworks for engineering operations, including model-based systems engineering workflows within PLM systems
• Lead process optimization initiatives using advanced operations research techniques and data analytics
• Design and implement production planning and control systems, including:
  • Capacity planning and resource allocation
  • Production scheduling and sequencing
  • Inventory management systems
  • Material flow optimization
  • Quality control processes
  • Conduct industrial system simulation studies to:
    • Model and analyze production processes
    • Evaluate alternative process designs
    • Optimize facility layouts and material handling systems
    • Validate process improvements
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies to:
      • Identify and eliminate waste in processes
      • Standardize work procedures
      • Implement pull systems and visual management
      • Establish process control methods
      • Develop and maintain advanced analytics systems for:
        • Process performance monitoring
        • Quality metrics tracking
        • Resource utilization analysis
        • Predictive maintenance planning
        • Create and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions
        • Design and optimize supply chain processes including:
          • Supplier integration methods
          • Inventory optimization models
          • Logistics network design
          • Material handling systems
          • Collaborate with training teams to develop and deliver process training programs
          • Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders
          • Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures
          • Always maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication
          • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
            
            Job Profile Minimum Qualifications
            
            • Bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering, or other engineering related discipline from an ABET accredited university required.
            • Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering role required.
              • A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience.
              • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience.
              • Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.
              • Experience with systems engineering software tools.
              • Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:
                • Operations Research tools & methods
                • Data-driven decision support systems
                • Statistical analysis and modeling
                • Process Optimization methods such as Lean Six-Sigma
                • Lean Production Systems
                • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and Methods & Product Lifecycle Management Systems (e.g. Teamcenter PLM, Cameo, Capella, Genesys, SysML, and DOORS)
                • Systems Lifecycle Processes (ISO 15288)
                • Industrial Engineering and Operations Management background in a lean manufacturing setting (Preferred).
                • Lean Six Sigma certification with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience
                • Demonstrated team leadership experience with strong written and oral communication skills (Preferred).
                • Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve processes (Preferred).

                  Travel Expectations: 10% (as needed for project assignment)
                  Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday - Friday
                  
                  Compensation
                  
                  As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions.                   A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:
                  $133,650 - $170,775
