THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking
hardworking Civil, Construction, Environmental, or Structural
Engineering students for employment during the summer months for
the 2025 Summer Employment Program! These internships provide the
opportunity to learn roadway, pavement, drainage and bridge
designs; construction and materials testing; traffic systems design
and operations; or maintenance asset management methodologies. If

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
PennDOT has several opportunities for students to kick-start their
career in Summer 2025! As an Engineering Intern, your
responsibilities will include conducting tasks related to hydrology
and hydraulic engineering, managing permitting processes, and
executing flood studies. You will also be involved in data
processing, reviewing policies, and engaging in research activities
pertinent to the field. This role will provide you with valuable
hands-on experience in various aspects of engineering, enhancing
your understanding and skills in these critical areas.

travelCompensation is credit based: Less than 90 credits -
$20.76Over 90 credits - $21.64
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSStudents who are interested in a PennDOT internship
must meet all of the following requirements: Must be a high school
graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a
full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary
education program for the fall semester.In good academic standing
(as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)Must be at least 18 years of
ageSpecial Requirement: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C
Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
Preferred Majors:Engineering or a closely related engineering
discipline
